GCAC Programs and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Each Supports
Each GCAC travel program includes service projects developed in collaboration with local partners. These partners identify the needs or challenges to address, ensuring they align with one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We dedicate on average a minimum of 20 group service hours to these challenges while we are in the country.
GCAC supports the following goals in these countries.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Goal 15: Life on Land
Take urgent action to end poaching and trafficking of protected species of flora and fauna and address both demand and supply of illegal wildlife products.

Why GCAC Supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
GCAC was created to produce global citizens. We believe one means of accomplishing this task is through travel service learning which supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
